A minimum of a Master's Degree in Special Education or related field from an accredited college or Certification by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as an Administrator of Special Education. Organizes, administers and coordinates Special Education (SPED) Maintains complete and accurate student records in compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations and district policy. Monitors Special Education laws and regulations and recommends required policies and Develops and coordinates an educational assessment program for Special Education Ensures that Special Education programs conform to all Department of Elementary and Secondary Education regulations. Works in cooperation with the Principal and high school administrators to develop a curriculum to meet the needs of students as defined by M.G.L. Chapter 71B. Coordinates students' Special Education accommodations for all assessments (e.g., MCAS, SAT, and various industry certifications). Provides and evaluates the effective utilization of equipment and materials used by Special Education Makes appropriate placements for Special Education Coordinates scheduling of Special Education Plans and provides in-service programs and orientation sessions for staff members concerning Special Education services in the school as required by law.
